OBAMA WON!
I'm so stoked! I've been following the US Presidential Campaigns since Obama and Clinton's battle to be the Democrats' candidate. I was always betting for Obama just because I think McCain would be another Bush.
Anyway, I was watching CNN all morning. They were live covering the counts and polls. And I went crazy when California votes came in and pushed Obama's electoral votes to 262. Immediately after, another state's votes came in with 11 electoral votes for him which enabled him to surpass the required 270. And just like that, Obama won by a landslide. I was so happy that I got to witness the moment his victory was announced!
McCain gave a speech after the announcement. He was really humble and you can see that he's somewhat happy for Obama. His crowd was booing him when he said that Obama deserved the win. And he was asking them not to boo. He's a nice guy. I look up to him for standing up when everyone was being disrespectful.
Obama's speech was really awesome. You can tell that he really cares not just for the US but for the whole world. A lot of people were crying. It was so emotional. I hope he does change the world.
Watching the US Elections made me wish that the elections here are as monumental and heartwarming. Also, that we are electing officials who will actually make a difference, who will show real concern for the country, who will care enough to solve problems. Here, most politicians care more for their pockets than for the country's welfare. Elections here are more twisted than a pretzel stick. This is why I never gave a damn about it.
