I rise at the smell of dawn
I cannot look but I cannot close my eyes
Dawn arrives with its gift of lucidity
Some days the world looks so simple
Yet I mistake my life for weather reports
Careful to keep my gaze impassive
Under your intense stare
It's all lost like childhood
Too magical to even believe
The stars shine only through darker skies
Onion skins delivering weightless words
Each word's a stitch forming a cure
The silence is now stained so
Take one step back and forever turn away
Don't keep me on this self-destructive dance
Sometimes you get tired of writing
So you try to do something new
My brain rewinds at a high speed
Eliminating the scenes and warmth of your hands
That lingers on my sweaty palms
As night accumulates as the world turns
We are swept into never being the same
Your eyes attend to every movement
Like a talented addict, I will not break
As you slowly wane into black memories
